Music Lead School (Surrey)

Clifton Hill is proud to be recognised as a Music Lead School in Surrey. This means we work in partnership with Surrey Arts to support the delivery and development of high-quality music education, both within our own school and across the wider local community.

As a Music Lead School, we are committed to ensuring that all students have access to rich and engaging musical experiences. We support the delivery of the Surrey Music Education Hub’s vision, helping children and young people to develop their musical skills, creativity, and confidence.

We offer a range of lunchtime music clubs, as well as a school choir, giving students the opportunity to explore their interests, develop new skills, and enjoy making music together in a fun and supportive environment.

As well as our visiting music therapist, we also work with a specialist visiting music teacher who offers one-to-one instrumental lessons, which are paid for by parents. No previous experience is necessary, and the teacher supports students in finding the instrument that best suits them. Where families may experience financial difficulty, support may be available to help cover the cost of lessons.

Our role also includes sharing good practice, supporting other settings, and contributing to wider music opportunities such as performances, workshops, and inclusive music-making. Through this work, we aim to ensure that every student, regardless of ability or background, can access and enjoy the benefits of music as part of their education.

Being a Music Lead School reflects our strong commitment to music and its positive impact on students’ learning, wellbeing, and overall school experience.
